What does an online instructor do?

As an online instructor, your students complete your course via online means of instruction, including video conferencing software, instant messaging and online chat, web forums for the class, and email. To thrive as an Online Instructor, you need strong subject matter expertise, pedagogical knowledge, and often a relevant teaching certification or degree. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing tools, and digital content creation platforms is commonly required. These capabilities are essential for delivering effective, interactive instruction and supporting student success in a virtual environment.

How does an online instructor typically engage with students to ensure active participation and effective learning?
