Fundraising Associate
Organization Description:
Since 1981, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has been the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. Working alongside the Presidio Trust, community partners, donors, and volunteers, the Parks Conservancy supports the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). Spanning three Bay Area counties, the GGNRA includes iconic destinations such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco.
The Parks Conservancy engages at the intersection of national park stewardship, social justice, and climate resilience. We collaborate to enhance public awareness and provide volunteer and educational opportunities in our parks. Department Description:
The Development and Membership team advances the Parks Conservancy’s mission by building meaningful relationships and growing a diverse community of supporters. Through individual giving, major gifts, events, legacy giving, corporate partnerships, and foundation and government grants, the Development team aspires to expand the community who invest in our parks, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization and our beloved local national parks. Position Overview:
The Fundraising Associate is a key member of the Development team, supporting fundraising efforts through accurate data management, gift processing, donor communications, and event coordination. This role ensures the integrity of donor records in Raiser’s Edge, provides essential reporting for development activities, and collaborates with colleagues to maintain high standards of donor stewardship and operational excellence.
This position is non-exempt, full-time. You must already be based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area. This position requires at least 3 days per week onsite, either in office (Fort Mason) or visiting our employees on location at our incredible park sites (for example, Alcatraz, Muir Woods, and Crissy Field).
Reports To: Director of Individual Giving (Director of Membership temporary through December 2026)
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Gift Processing + Donor Records
Working with the Associate Director of Donor Database and Development Operations and Gift Administration Associate;
  • Process gifts and donations received through a variety of channels, including online giving, checks, donor-advised funds, stock gifts, and other payment methods.
  • Enter and maintain donor and constituent records with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support the import and review of online gifts, event registrations, and constituent information into fundraising systems.
  • Assist with gift acknowledgments and donor communications to help ensure supporters are thanked and recognized in a timely manner.
  • Partner with Development and Finance colleagues to help reconcile donations and address gift-related questions.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation related to gifts and donor activity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute ideas that enhance efficiency and donor service.
Data Management and Reporting
  • Support the Individual Giving and Capital Campaign Teams with creating and managing queries, reports, dashboards and imports in Raiser’s Edge, including invitation lists, financial updates, and donor renewal analyses.
  • Work with the Associate Director of Donor Database and Development Operations and the Development Prospect Manager to monitor database accuracy, addressing inconsistencies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Provide updates for campaign tracking, prospect management, and other development priorities.
  • Work with the Development Prospect Manager on updates to the donor database, included but not limited to: donor communications, donor profiles, team strategies, follow-ups and solicitations.
Endowment Reporting and Planned Giving Support
In partnership with the Director of Philanthropy and Capital Campaigns;
  • Support the development of stewardship, communications materials, and outreach plans for the Parks Conservancy Silver Lupine Circle legacy program.
  • Document planned gifts and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  • Liaise with the Finance and Development teams to track all endowment records, proposals, payment schedules, and gift agreements.
  • Generate annual reports, acknowledgments, and communications for Parks Conservancy endowment programs.
Donor Communications
Working in partnership with the Individual Giving team;
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment of all gifts over $1,500 and campaign donations. Gifts will include but not be limited to funds within the Individual Giving Team, i.e. major donors and One Tam programs.
  • Collaborate with the Individual Giving Team to manage and track the Trustee Fund, including, solicitations, acknowledgments and annual reporting.
  • Update acknowledgment templates and procedures annually or as needed.
  • Support CEO and Development Committee Co-Chair thank you letters and acknowledgments, including annual holiday card outreach.
  • Assist in pulling donor lists for solicitations and renewals.
  • Collaborate with Communications to develop solicitation and stewardship materials.
  • Draft and distribute solicitation letters and stewardship materials for key donor groups, such as Trustees, Silver Lupine Circle (legacy donors), and campaign donors.
  • Serve as the team lead for webpage updates related to fundraising campaigns.
  • Respond to donor inquiries via email and phone as needed
Administrative Support
  • Provide administrative support for the Chief Development Officer, including calendar management, travel support, expense reporting, data entry, and meeting preparation (as needed).
  • In partnership with the Chief Development Officer, organize and support Development Committee meetings, including scheduling, materials preparation, pre-read coordination, logistics, note-taking, and follow-up.
  • Maintain Development Committee records, rosters, and annual planning documents, and ensure smooth communication with committee members and staff.
  • Assist with logistics, coordination, and materials development for CDO-led board engagements, including the Development Committee.
  • Support Recruitment amp; Onboarding support for Branch candidates—including interview scheduling, communications, and ensuring a seamless new-hire experience, as needed.
Administrative Support for Individual Giving Events and Meetings
  • Provide support for donor events, site tours, and meetings.
  • Prepare materials, take notes, and assist with follow-ups for committee and internal meetings.
Other Duties: Performs Other Duties as Assigned in support of branch and organizational responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency and enjoyment of computer tasks such as gift entry, database updating and mail merges
  • Familiarity with CRM applications (such as Raiser’s Edge) and Microsoft suite of programs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage information accurately.
  • Interest in learning fundraising, donor relations, and nonprofit operations.
  • Comfort working with databases, spreadsheets, and technology; willingness to learn new systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Capable of interacting professionally with donors, staff across various departments, and outside support vendors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Adaptable and comfortable learning in a dynamic environment.

Education and Experience:
  • One to two years of professional experience in an administrative, customer service, operations or fundraising. Nonprofit environment experience preferred.
  • Experience working with databases, CRM systems, or record-keeping tools preferred (with Raiser’s Edge experience a plus but not required).
  • Equivalent combinations of education, volunteer experience, internships, and transferable skills are welcomed.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Pay Rate: $32.00/hour (Grade 16). As part of our equitable pay practices, we will not be able to offer a starting pay rate beyond this amount.
