Job description

Class Summary This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits. Job Description The Staff Assistant I is a part-time position in the Sheriff's Department. This position provides administrative support by performing routine duties such as answering phones, entering data, filing, preparing reports, and distributing mail.

Essential Duties Preparing business correspondence and reports using word processing (Microsoft Word) and the computer Maintaining filing systems, organizing work, and using customer service techniques Providing customer service Operating standard office equipment and a document scanner Screening mail and handling routine items without direction Receiving calls for the section/unit, assisting callers, routing calls to appropriate staff, or taking messages Entering data into or retrieving data from an on-line computer system or personal computer to provide information or compile reports Other Job Requirements/Information Public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting. May require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays. Grade The grade for this position is 97.
