Job description

Westside Podiatry is searching for a confident professional that is adept at medical insurance billing, coding, and receivables recovery, with a strong background in Athena. The candidate must have proven productivity track record, great attitude, thrive in a fast paced production environment, be quality oriented, and possess the ability to adapt to a variety of technologies.
You will work closely with patients, providers, insurance companies, and medical/surgical representatives to ensure the proper revenue for the practice.
Skills Required:
You must have at least 3 years of in-depth medical business office experience. This should include experience with coding, posting, electronic remittance filing, A/R, plus strong positive working relationships with patients and insurance companies. We will only consider candidates with medical billing experience.
Critical and analytical thinking is key. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment, take initiative, and have knowledge of all aspects of the medical billing revenue cycle.
Responsibilities:
• Insurance verification
• Reviewing explanation of benefits and correspondence
• Composing appeals and reviewing medical records
• Payment posting and writing off uncollectible accounts, after review with practice manager and doctor(s)
• Running and working A/R reports, reviewing reports with practice manager and doctor(s)
• Identifying problematic insurance company issues, ie: codes, payers, etc and notifying practice manager
• Work closely (hand and hand) with Athena
• Work managerial holds and other Athena buckets
• Scrub and edit claims prior to submitting
• Review authorizations
• Knowledge of pre-authorizations/pre-certifications
• Knowledgeable of Medicare/Medicare products, Medicaid/Medicaid products, managed care products, Market Place,
Military, and commercial insurance company products
• Tracking and managing all online insurance company log in information
Requirements:
• Must be able to pass a criminal background
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, CMS1500 claim forms, ICD-10, CPT codes, and modifiers
• Working knowledge of computers such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to type at least 45 wpm
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner during interaction with colleagues, military clients, patients, as well as the private health insurance representatives
• Must have reliable and verifiable work references
* Possess strong analytical thinking and have great organizational skills
Schedule:
• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)
• Work Location: One location
