Monroe Public Schools is seeking highly qualified and student-centered candidates for a Secondary Mathematics Teacher (EX endorsement) position beginning no later than the 2026-2027 school year. Position Summary
The Secondary Mathematics Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering an engaging instructional program that promotes student achievement and fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning skills. The successful candidate will create a positive learning environment that encourages all students to reach their academic potential and become lifelong learners.
Work is performed under the supervision of the building administrator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with the Michigan Academic Standards.
  • Develop and implement engaging lessons that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology tools to enhance student learning.
  • Assess student progress through formal and informal measures and use data to guide instruction.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual learners, including students receiving specialized services.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development, professional learning communities, and school improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and district programs.
  • Support and uphold district policies, procedures, and the mission of Monroe Public Schools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with an EX (Mathematics) endorsement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics content and instructional best practices.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Commitment to creating a learning environment that supports the success of all students.

Preferred:
  • Experience teaching secondary mathematics.
  • Experience utilizing instructional technology and data-driven decision making.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies.
