Adjunct instructors are hired locally or regionally to teach specific courses in which they have particular expertise. They normally teach no more than half of the full-time load. Adjunct instructors receive a letter of appointment for each semester in which they teach; they are paid on a per-course basis. No expectation of continuing employment is implied.
The Department of Mathematics and Physics at the University of New Haven is inviting applications for a Physics adjunct instructor position to begin in Fall 2026.
  • Courses are primarily offered on-ground
  • Eligible candidates will be asked to present a teaching demonstration (via Zoom)

You will:
  • Teach one or more introductory Physics lectures, General Physics I or II (algebra based) lectures, or laboratories.

You need:
  1. A Master's or Ph.D. in Physics or a related field
  2. Preferably prior teaching experience teaching college-level preferred
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  4. Ability to prepare courses with best pedagogical practice in mind
  5. Experience with instructional technology
  6. Experience with previous online/remote or hybrid teaching, using web based instructional software, or other learning management systems
  7. Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly adopt the Canvas LMS.
