What is a Onewheel?

Onewheel riders, sometimes referred to as Onewheel professionals, are individuals who ride and often specialize in using the Onewheel, a self-balancing electric board with a single large wheel. These riders may use the Onewheel for recreation, commuting, performing tricks, or even racing. Some Onewheel enthusiasts become instructors, event organizers, or content creators in the Onewheel community, sharing tips and promoting safe riding. The role typically involves a deep understanding of the device, safety practices, and the Onewheel culture.

Both Onewheel and Electric Skateboard Riders use similar skills and safety precautions. The main difference lies in the equipment: Onewheel features a single wheel with a footpad, offering a different riding experience compared to the multi-wheel electric skateboard. While both are popular for urban commuting and recreation, Onewheel is often favored for its stability and unique riding style, making it a distinct choice within the personal electric transportation industry.

What are some common safety concerns Onewheel technicians should be prepared to address when servicing devices?

Onewheel technicians frequently handle high-capacity batteries and sensitive electronic components, so safety is paramount. Common concerns include preventing electrical shorts, managing lithium-ion battery risks, and ensuring all hardware is securely reassembled to avoid malfunction. Technicians are also trained to follow strict protocols when diagnosing issues to protect themselves and customers from potential hazards. A strong attention to detail and adherence to safety guidelines are essential for success in this role.
