Clinical Triage Medical Assistant
Pay: $21.00โ€“$26.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Mondayโ€“Friday
Hours: 8:00 a.m.โ€“5:00 p.m.

Emerald Staffing is supporting a confidential search on behalf of a wellestablished, multiprovider healthcare organization in the Portland metro area. This organization prioritizes patientcentered care, efficient clinical operations, and strong team collaboration in a fastpaced environment.
Position Summary-
The Clinical Triage Medical Assistant provides frontline clinical support by addressing patient medical questions and concerns via phone systems and an electronic medical record (EMR) portal. This role serves as a primary point of contact for patients and requires strong critical thinking, documentation, and followthrough skills. The ideal candidate is attentive, compassionate, detailoriented, and comfortable managing a high volume of patient communications using a โ€œonetouchโ€ resolution approach whenever possible.

Essential Job Duties-
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients via phone and EMR patient portal
  • Ensure clear, accurate written communication with proper grammar and punctuation for providers and staff
  • Formulate symptom management responses quickly and calmly, including scheduling appointments, placing orders, and submitting prescriptions at the time of contact
  • Respond to inbound patient calls and voicemails, averaging 40+ calls per day
  • Prioritize and route incoming patient messages based on clinical triage needs
  • Research patient records through EMR and patient portals to fully understand patient concerns
  • Complete all required callbacks for patients, providers, and the clinical team
  • Document all patient communications accurately and thoroughly in the medical record
  • Evaluate prescription refill requests, medication effectiveness, and potential changes; submit prescriptions when appropriate
  • Assist with medical records and leaverelated paperwork, including FMLA, OFLA, STD, and Oregon Paid Family Leave
  • Provide additional clinical support as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements-
  • Recent experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a urology or specialty clinic setting
  • Graduate of a medical assisting program or equivalent handson clinical experience
  • Strong proficiency in electronic medical records with excellent documentation skills
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Comfortable working in a fastpaced, highvolume clinical environment
