Nature & Purpose of Position
The Office of Auxiliary Services is seeking highly motivated and professional Student Assistants to support the office's daily operations. This position offers hands-on experience in administrative support, customer service, campus-wide services, and fast-paced office operations. Student Assistants may also provide as-needed support to the SHSU Kat Post.
Primary Responsibilities - Auxiliary Services
  • Administrative & Office Support
  • Support daily administrative tasks including document preparation, photocopying, scanning, and secure shredding
  • Monitor and maintain office supply inventory
  • Assist with organizing storage areas, meeting spaces, and workrooms
  • Provide general support to leadership and administrative staff

Customer Service & Communications
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries for Auxiliary Services and Bearkat Bundle
  • Greet and assist visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • Represent Auxiliary Services by tabling at orientations and campus events

Marketing & Outreach
  • Help create marketing materials for Auxiliary Services and its departments
  • Manage and update social media postings as assigned

Vendor & Operational Support
  • Work with vendors to maintain functioning vending machines
  • Execute on-campus and occasional off-campus errands with reliability and professionalism

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting and carrying mail and packages
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks, including walking across campus

Qualifications
  • Must be a currently enrolled SHSU student
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Professional, motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working within Microsoft products, specifically Excel and Teams
  • Social media content creation experience preferred
