Job description

Material Handler

Join Life Fitness/Hammer Strength in Owatonna, MN as a Material Handler on our 1st Shift. You'll move materials within and between departments to keep production running in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

  • Transport product and materials to work areas safely and on time
  • Pick and package parts orders and replenish assembly-line bins
  • Document deliveries and verify part number, quantity, location, and transactions
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and scales
  • Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts and audits
  • Use visual controls to replenish parts and identify potential shortages
  • Complete inventory transactions in Oracle accurately and on time
  • Support operators and coordinate with Materials, Receiving, and Shipping
  • Report procedure or equipment errors to your supervisor
  • Keep work areas and aisles clean and organized
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications

  • Basic math (counting, adding, subtracting)
  • Attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to work independently and safely in a fast-paced team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures, work instructions, and production documentation in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • 1 year in a manufacturing environment
  • Forklift certification
  • Database knowledge and Microsoft Excel experience
  • Cycle-counting and RF scanning experience

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Constantly lift/carry up to 10 lbs, frequently up to 35 lbs, and rarely up to 50 lbs (50+ lbs with a two-person or lift assist)
  • Stand for extended periods
  • Frequently use hands to pick parts and grip tools and scanners
  • Occasionally crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, and reach overhead
  • Operate RF scanners, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment
  • Noisy environment

Your base wage will be between $20.00 - $23.88 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual wage offer will be based on qualifications, experience, location, and other relevant factors. You'll have the opportunity to participate in the Production Bonus Plan, which provides opportunities to earn additional compensation based on performance metrics. Bonus eligibility is subject to meeting certain production goals and other criteria as outlined.
