Job description

Job Summary:

Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to generators and components at the customer's site.

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in (West Sacramento, CA).

  • Completing repair activities on generators or components 
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of service
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

DOT
-A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
-Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older


-A current valid license is required for this role
-This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
-This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
-3 years driving experience
-This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

Compensation and Benefits Base

Salary rate commensurate with experience.   • Diagnose, repair, and maintain Cummins Onan generators and power generation systems (diesel, gas, and RV generators)
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, including inspections, oil changes, and component replacements
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues in both field and shop environments
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and power generation equipment
  • Technical training or certification in diesel technology, electrical systems, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting generator systems

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
  • Advanced experience with electrical repair and maintenance
  • Proficient Diesel Engine experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.
  • Setup, troubleshoot and repair basic paralleling generator systems.
  • Understanding switchgear schematics.
  • Ability to train Entry/Intermediate Technicians/Mechanics.
