About Us:
We are a growing, factory authorized Generac dealer serving residential and commercial customers in northern New Jersey and the surrounding area. We install, maintain, and repair standby generator systems to keep homes and businesses powered safely and reliably during outages.

Position Overview:
The Generac Service Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on residential and light commercial standby generators and related equipment (including automatic transfer switches). This is a fieldbased role using a companyprovided vehicle to travel to customer locations, with some onโ€‘call and emergency service as needed.

Key Responsibilities:ย 
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on Generac standby generators (oil and filter changes, spark plugs, battery checks, software updates, full system inspections).
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on airโ€‘cooled and (where qualified) liquidโ€‘cooled Generac generator systems.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and test automatic transfer switches and associated control wiring.
  • Perform startโ€‘ups, test outages, and load testing to verify proper operation and code compliance.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Accurately document all work performed, parts used, and recommendations using our service software platform.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about findings, repairs, maintenance needs, and system operation.
  • Participate in an onโ€‘call rotation for emergency and afterโ€‘hours service when required.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and parts inventory in clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Follow all safety rules, manufacturer specifications, and local code requirements on every job.

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience as a generator technician, small engine mechanic, or electrical / HVAC service technician preferred, especially with Generac or other standby systems.
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of AC electrical, controls, and engine systems (gas or diesel).
  • Ability to safely work on energized equipment within code and company safety policies.
  • Comfortable using diagnostic tools, multimeters, laptops, and mobile apps for troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong customer service skills and professional communication style at the jobsite and in customersโ€™ homes.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and parts as needed and work outdoors in varying weather.
