Job description

The Cleveland Museum of Art seeks a qualified full-time Building Services staff member. The Building Services staff member is responsible for keeping areas of the museum's indoor premises in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties:

  • Cleaning and polishing light fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Cleaning galleries, classrooms, offices, hallways, lobbies, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, lounges, and other work areas as assigned.
  • Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors.
  • Cleaning rugs and carpets.
  • Dusting furniture and equipment. Polishing metalwork.
  • Washing walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washing windows, door panels, and sills.
  • Emptying wastebaskets.
  • Transporting trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Cleaning bathrooms and replenishing supplies.
  • Assisting with museum special events as needed. This may include setting up and taking down tables and chairs; emptying trash containers; and cleaning area after and after event takes place. It may also require remaining on call throughout an event in case services are needed.
  • Moving office furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Performing other special projects as assigned by Group Leader or Supervisor of Building Services.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to operate cleaning equipment, such as buffers, strippers, and carpet cleaners. Prior knowledge of cleaning products and materials helpful.

Hours of work: 40 hours per week; (Wednesday thru Sunday working 7:00am -4:00pm)

Hourly rate: $19.25
