Responsibilities & Expectations

As a Senior Field Service Technician, you'll perform testing and maintenance on low-, medium-, and high-voltage power distribution equipment for commercial and industrial customers. You'll also help lead and support field crews as needed.


Testing and Calibration

- Instrument transformer testing

- Power transformer testing (Doble, insulation resistance, transformer turns ratio)

- Cable testing including power factor, tan delta, VLF, and hipot

- Circuit breaker and switchgear testing (low, medium, and high voltage)

- Primary and secondary injection testing

- Protective relay testing (electromechanical and solid-state)

- Continuity and ground fault testing

- Power quality analysis


Field Work

- Troubleshoot, inspect, start up, and collect data on switchgear, circuit breakers, cables, transformers, protective relays, VFDs, and ATS systems

- Perform inspections, diagnose issues, replace components, make repair recommendations, and recommission equipment


Safety

- Follow all safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices


Team & Customer Interaction

- Support teammates and contribute to a strong team environment

- Communicate clearly with customers, explaining issues and solutions in a way that's easy to understand


Documentation

- Complete accurate service reports and documentation

- Perform work in accordance with NETA or NICET standards, as required

Qualifications and Competencies

- 5+ years of relevant electrical testing experience

- Comfortable using industry testing equipment such as meggers, digital multimeters, hi-pot testers, oil dielectric strength testers, relay test sets, primary and secondary injection equipment, cable fault detectors, and oscilloscopes

- At least 3 years of driving experience with a valid, unrestricted driver's license

- Strong communication and customer service skills

- Ability to read and understand schematics, manuals, and safety procedures

- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and on-call rotations
