The AEGIS program at Leidos has an exciting opportunity for a Telecommunication Mechanic II to join our team at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi.

Work Environment:

This position is performed in a dynamic operational environment and frequently requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Employees may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, extreme heat, and electrical hazards. The work environment may involve consistently high noise levels.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements described below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

Employees will regularly use their hands to handle, manipulate, and operate equipment and tools. The role frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and communicating verbally. Occasional sitting is required. Employees must also be able to safely lift, carry, and move telecommunications equipment, including switches, servers, and UPS units, weighing up to 75 pounds, as well as the visual acuity necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties.

The hourly range is: $28.00/hour - $33.00/hour.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 1 & 2 support for trouble calls related to Cisco VoIP products.

  • Meet with customers to gather specialized networking requirements, especially related to the VoIP network.

  • Communicate and collaborate in cross-functional teams with Network Engineering teams supporting other NASA locations.

  • Participate in Agency working groups.

  • Support daily Move, Add, and Change orders in a timely manner to meet contract SLA's.

  • Respond to trouble tickets in a timely manner to meet contract SLA's.

  • Receive and process ESD orders for NASA/NASA contractor services.

  • Install and maintain VoIP equipment to include handsets.

  • Build line, device, and user profiles in Cisco CUCM to include installing the Certification Authority Proxy Function (CAPF) certificate for new phone service.

  • Build user Jabber and Microsoft Teams accounts and email instructions for installation noting user's sign-in credentials.

  • Create, reset, or delete voice mail requirements in Unity based on work order request.

  • Lock/unlock MAC addresses in the System Configuration and changes software (Putty) for Phybridge and VG connections.

  • Update line/switch/cable pair/jack information in CIMS for tracking capability.

  • Activity scheduling and coordination with Enterprise Network Operations Center

  • Technicians rotate on-call duties to support after hours and weekend callouts.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma with at least five (5) years of relevant experience in Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies and telecommunications support.

  • Knowledge of Cisco networking products (Cisco Voice Gateways and NVT Phybridge).

  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including developing and presenting training materials, implementation plans, and diagrams.

  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Visio and Project.

Clearance requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
