Wage: $18.01 per hour
Hours per week: varies by accepted assignment
Location: varies- service area includes Linn and Benton counties. On call staff select the days and locations they are available to work.
Position Purpose:
Provide classroom assistance in a supportive role participating in developmentallyappropriate activities.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Assist in setting up environment (indoor/outdoor) for the activities of the day.
Provide assistance to teacher in working with children, individually or in groups in the classroom.
Follow lesson plans as directed by the teacher.
Cooperate with supervisor in classroom operation.
Participate in classroom and center clean up.
Assist with meals, eating with children.
Additional Job Responsibilities
Attend and participate in program meetings/trainings as requested by supervisor
Complete all areas of responsibility in compliance with program code of conduct and confidentiality policies.
Be a contributory team member in a positive/productive manner.
Demonstrate commitment to mission, values and policies in the performance of daily duties.
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements
HS Diploma or GED.
Experience with children in target age groups: 0-3 and 3-5. preferred.
Sensitivity to individual and group needs of adults and children in target area.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, staff and public.
Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with families.
Other Requirements:
Enrollment in the Child Care Division Central Background Registry
Completion of Employee Health Appraisal: pre-employment health appraisal paid for and arranged by employer.
Completion of Food Handlers Card and First Aid/CPR card: employer paid and arranged.
Necessary Physical/Mental Abilities
Ability to visually assess child behaviors and environment and make frequent decisions to ensure child health and safety.
Frequent kneeling, bending, twisting, sitting on floor, also frequent getting up and down from floor and child sized furniture to attend to children's needs.
Frequent repetitive movements in classroom for cleaning purposes: mopping,
Work effectively with families of diverse cultures, races, values and lifestyles.
Ability to self regulate own emotions, especially in stressful situations.
