Job description

Industrial Electrical Technician - PLC/SCADA Controls Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. $31.00-$36.50 per hour Water Filtration Plant | Fort Wayne, Indiana
Are you a skilled electrical troubleshooter who takes pride in solving problems and keeping critical systems running? Join a dependable team where your PLC, SCADA, and industrial controls experience directly helps protect Fort Wayne's water supply.
What You'll Do
Help keep the City's Water Filtration Plant operating safely and reliably by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving industrial electrical and automated control systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, program, calibrate, and repair PLCs, SCADA systems, VFDs, telemetry, instrumentation, and electrical equipment
  • Install, modify, and maintain electrical circuits, control panels, automated systems, and related equipment
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on low- and medium-voltage systems
  • Support capital improvement projects, system upgrades, planning, and equipment recommendations
  • Maintain fiber-optic networks and process-control systems while responding to emergency or on-call needs

What You Bring
  • Associate degree or technical school training with at least three years of related experience, or five years of industrial electrical or controls experience
  • Allen County Journeyman Electrician License, or five years of documented experience working with industrial PLCs and electrical systems
  • Valid Indiana driver's license
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team in a safety-focused environment

Preferred Certifications
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Additional electrical, instrumentation, or automation certifications

Candidates who do not currently hold all required safety certifications may be considered if they can obtain them within the required timeframe.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
  • PLC and SCADA programming and troubleshooting
  • Variable frequency drives, telemetry, and instrumentation
  • Industrial electrical controls and automated systems
  • Low- and medium-voltage electrical systems
  • National Electrical Code and workplace safety practices
  • Fiber-optic and process-control networks
