Job description

Heart Care Centers of Illinois, a multi-site network of cardiovascular providers, currently has an opening for Full Time Nuclear Technologist responsible for the coordination and participation in a variety of technical tasks, tests, and determinations involving the utilization of radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and must be open to flexibility in scheduling. No nights, no regular weekends, and no on-call!

Major Duties and Responsibilities : Prepares patient for nuclear cardiology study per company policies and protocols. Preparation includes chart review, preparation of radiopharmaceutical materials, dose calculation and administration via IV, and educating patient on the testing process. Image acquisition and processing, including preparing images and results in appropriate system(s) for physician's review/interpretation; ensuring patient safety; must be able to identify and resolve life-threatening situations which may arise.

Perform quality control/quality assurance activities relating to the calibration and maintenance of equipment; serve as radiation contact person for assigned clinic. Initiate and follow-through with the pre-authorization/RQI process with insurance carriers as required for all nuclear testing. Maintain inventory of supplies in assigned area and order supplies as needed; prepare and maintain records concerning radiopharmaceutical receiving, dispensing and disposal activities as appropriate.

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required Minimum two years experience in nuclear cardiology Completion of Nuclear Medicine Technologist course of training Radiologist Technologist licensure in Nuclear Medicine category by the state of Illinois (IEMA) credentialed by the ARRT or NMTCB in nuclear medicine BLS (CPR/AED) certification required Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation as position may include floating to other HCCI clinics.
