Title: Systems Analyst
Position Purpose:
The Systems Analyst supports the health, security, and reliability of the College's server applications and maintains a hybrid application portfolio spanning self-hosted and SaaS-delivered systems. This role integrates, customizes, and enhances database and web applications to meet the evolving needs of College departments, working closely with vendors, campus stakeholders, and teammates to implement, configure, and support both new and existing technologies.
Job Duties:
  • Monitors system health and applies upgrades and patches as necessary to keep applications current and protected.
  • Diagnoses and resolves performance issues to minimize disruption to College operations.
  • Evaluates the impact of new features and application changes on College computing resources before deployment.
  • Safeguards system security, stability, and performance.
  • Documents processes and configurations to preserve institutional knowledge.
  • Participates in weekly, team-shared, on-call rotation to investigate and resolve system outages and issues if needed.
  • Provides technical support for a portfolio of self-hosted applications-including open- source, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), and internally developed systems-as well as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, including but not limited to Microsoft SQL Server, WordPress, Moodle, Evisions MAPS, Ellucian Banner, and other enterprise applications.
  • Partners with vendors and College staff to evaluate, implement, and configure new technologies.
  • Configures applications and related tools to support integration and ongoing maintenance.
  • Designs, develops, and tests application code to integrate and customize the College and application portfolio.
  • Develops and optimizes SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views; designs database tables and indexes.
  • Plans and performs data conversions, imports, exports, and migrations.
  • Ensures data integrity, security, and system performance.
  • Consistently strives to increase level of expertise on application software and security.
  • Participates in software evaluations and assessments of new technologies.
  • Works collaboratively with other Information Services staff.
  • Connects with industry peers to forge mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Serves as assigned on College Committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience
  • Experience working with relational database systems such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, or equivalent
  • Experience supporting solutions hosted on Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux environments and connecting to remote environments.
  • Experience working with source control systems, configuration management software, or Docker/Kubernetes is desired.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, Argos, Cognos, or other enterprise reporting tools to support business and operational reporting is preferred.
  • Experience with system implementation and upgrades.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Familiarity with developing custom applications, database solutions, and system integrations using Microsoft
    SQL Server is desired.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $72,352 to $78,165. Placement within the range depends on experience and other factors.
