Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment's mission is to support and strengthen New York City's creative economy and make it accessible to all. The agency comprises four divisions: the Film Office, which coordinates film and television production in public places; NYC Media, the largest municipal television and radio broadcasting entity in the country; Creative Sector Programs, which supports workforce development and the film, television, theater/live performance, music, publishing, advertising and digital content industries; and the Press Credentials Office (PCO), which issues access credentials for journalists. The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) seek a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Executive Director of Music responsible for liaising with and organizing New York City's music sector, developing programs and policies to assist musical workers in New York City, and making music and live entertainment more accessible to all New Yorkers. This role will serve as the central liaison between City government and the music industry and workforce.
Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner of Access and Engagement, responsibilities will include:
-Serve as the primary City liaison to the music and live entertainment industries. Convene stakeholders accordingly
-Coordinate across agencies (permitting, parks, public safety, small business services, tourism, etc.) to streamline processes impacting music activity
-Develop policies and programs that support the music industry while facilitating access for all New Yorkers
-Create and oversee initiatives that make music accessible to all New Yorkers, including concerts in public spaces across all five boroughs, ticket distribution programs for low- and moderate-income residents, and partnerships with venues, festivals, and cultural institutions
-Support emerging artists and local talent pipelines
-Attract major concerts, festivals, and touring productions to NYC through proactive industry outreach
-Position NYC as the top destination for music companies and collaborate with economic development entities to attract and retain music-related businesses
-Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary management duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to be on call and/or work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.
