Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Surgical/Telemetry night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center in Springfield, MO, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work setting is an inpatient surgical/telemetry unit at a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center and Level 2 Stroke Center
  • Eligible float units include Medical, Medical/Surgical, Cardiac Med Intermediate, and Surgical floors
  • Patient population includes post-surgical patients with specialties such as GI, GU, ENT, and Urology, as well as patients with medical comorbidities
  • Night shift: 1900–0700
  • Patient ratios on nights are approximately 1:6–1:8 (estimates only)
  • Equipment includes Alaris pumps, telemetry monitors, and lift equipment
  • EMR is Epic
  • Floating is required on a rotational basis
  • Weekend hours required as determined by the facility
  • No on-call requirements
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active RN license in Missouri or eligibility for MO licensure (compact license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification from AHA required
  • 4 trauma credits required — must be completed within the first two weeks if not already held at start
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start date
  • ACLS from AHA preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient telemetry experience required
  • Experience and competence in drug titration required
  • No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
  • Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless a scheduled renewal is documented
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift, and turn patients with assistance; push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs; pinch up to 15 lbs
Additional Information
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for all age groups
  • Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary and other departments to optimize outcomes
  • High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids is inherent to the role
  • Night shift orientation is conducted on day shift; candidate must be available the entire orientation week
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
  • Black scrubs are required; torn clothing, open-toed shoes, and non-scrub attire are not permitted
  • Up to 5 days of RTO is allowed but must be made up during the assignment; RTO will not be approved during the first week
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request will be approved per assignment
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but are subject to a local bill rate and a limit of 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, a minimum 1-year separation or transfer outside the 50-mile radius is required
  • The facility has earned an 'A' grade from The Leapfrog Group's Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Grade and holds recognition from the American College of Cardiology, CMS, and The Joint Commission
