Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a NC or compact license, 3 years of ER experience, and float availability between campuses.

Details
  • Work in the Emergency Department of a short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center teaching hospital
  • General Emergency Department serving a combined adult and pediatric population
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • 36 hours per week with holiday coverage required
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend
  • Floating required between both Betsy Johnson and Central Harnett campuses as needed
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active NC or compact RN license required, pending license not accepted
  • Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS, and NIHSS required; NRP and TNCC preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care/management, and starting and maintaining IVs
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition required
  • Experience managing psychiatric patients, drug overdose cases, and suicidal patients required
  • Experience administering emergency medications required
  • Must pass an Advanced EKG exam as part of compliance
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult and pediatric ED population
  • Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Arterial line management skills preferred
  • Scrub color required is royal blue and white
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Locals accepted only outside a 50-mile radius of the Main campus (Cape Fear Valley Medical Center)
  • RTO requests subject to manager's discretion, generally limited to a maximum of 4 days with approval of only 1 holiday
  • Returning staff must have been separated for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Extensions limited to once for day shift or twice for night shift, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
  • All callouts for scheduled shifts require makeup shifts as deemed necessary by the department
