Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of recent ER experience and a Level I Trauma Center background.

Details
  • Work in the Emergency Department of a hospital setting
  • General ED serving combined adult/pediatric patient population
  • Level I Trauma Center environment
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
  • CPI certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room experience required
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skills in IV therapy and phlebotomy
  • Experience with arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care preferred
  • Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and ABG interpretation preferred
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation preferred
  • Neurological care experience including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury preferred
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management preferred
  • Triage and isolation precautions/PPE experience preferred
  • Ortho trauma experience preferred
  • 1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population in a high-acuity Level I Trauma Center setting
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 31 - March 31) with no exemptions
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this position
  • Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
  • Candidates with previous permanent employment at Duke University Health System must not have been employed within the past 6 months
  • RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
