American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ED experience and a NC or compact RN license in hand.
Job Details
• Emergency Department setting caring for combined adult/pediatric patients,
• Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience preferred,
• Patient ratio of 1:5,
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30),
• EOW/EOH weekend requirement,
• No on-call responsibilities,
• Floating required within scope of training,
• Orientations occur on a biweekly basis,
Job Requirements
• Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand,
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required,
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI (in hand or willing to obtain before start), NIHSS, PALS,
• TNCC certification preferred,
• Level I Trauma experience required,
• Previous charge experience preferred,
• Experience with any charting system required,
• Skilled in pediatric emergency care, IV therapy/phlebotomy, respiratory management, and neurological emergencies,
• Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health patients, including violent behavior and suicidal patients,
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation,
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and triage,
• Ability to manage/apply splints and orthopedic trauma care,
• 1 supervisory reference from within the last year required for consideration,
Additional Information
• Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric emergencies,
• Manage shock/trauma patients including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations,
• Responsible for identifying and reporting suspected neglect or abuse,
• Facility is a Stroke Certified and STEMI Certified center,
• Scrub color required: Royal Blue,
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with no exemptions,
• First-time travelers considered as long as they have 2 years of ED experience,
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate,
• RTO limited to 5-7 days maximum,
• Previous permanent Duke University Health System employees must not have worked there within the past 6 months
