Job description

JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (FULL-TIME)
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Post Open: August 4, 2026
Post Closes: Until Filled
FSLA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the position of Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping parks, recreation facilities and grounds clean, safe, and well-maintained.
The successful candidate in this position will be responsible for the prompt repairs and on-going maintenance of all park facilities and grounds. Duties also involve equipment assembly and installation, preventative maintenance, grounds-keeping and snow removal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
  • Drives and operates equipment such as mowing equipment, pickup truck, and tractor.
  • Maintains grounds and landscaping. Assists with mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, mulching, sodding, pruning, aerating, and cultivating trees, shrubs, and turf.
  • Performs carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, fencing, painting and small equipment repair.
  • Prepares athletic fields for recreational activities including turfgrass maintenance, lining, measuring, and painting fields.
  • Participates in snow removal operations with hand tools and power equipment.
  • Cuts wood and clears trails with chainsaw and other equipment.
  • Conducts custodial duties in the parks including cleaning of facilities, debris pickup and trash removal.
  • Completes assigned tasks and maintains records of work performed including time, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to utilize a computer and smart phone for accessing work orders, documenting daily tasks and personnel time management.
  • Maintain high quality/professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned in support of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in skilled trades, construction, or maintenance.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid Driver's license, and satisfactory driving record.
  • Must hold a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass background check and willing to be subject to drug and alcohol screening.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed including nights/weekends.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to provide good and effective communication both orally and written; capacity to understand and follow oral and written orders.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to easily move through a variety of terrain, climb ladders and complete manual labor under a variety of conditions.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds frequently.

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently.

WORK CONDITIONS
This position requires working indoors and out in a variety of temperatures and weather conditions to include humidity, rain, snow, heat and cold.
SCHEDULE
  • Typical work week for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
  • Schedule is subject to change due to weather and/or maintenance needs.
  • May be required to work occasional nights and/or weekends.
  • This position includes on-call responsibilities.
