Position Overview
Altamira is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support secure, scalable cloud environments for mission-critical systems within the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. This role focuses on building, automating, and operating cloud infrastructure that supports containerized platforms, data pipelines, and enterprise applications.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in AWS, infrastructure automation, networking, and security, and is comfortable supporting complex environments in highly regulated settings.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS and hybrid environments
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and related tooling
  • Configure and manage VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and network connectivity
  • Design and manage IAM roles, policies, and access controls
  • Support secure connectivity between cloud, on-premises, and classified environments
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of infrastructure resources
  • Monitor performance, availability, and cost utilization of cloud environments
  • Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions
  • Collaborate with platform, security, and application teams to support system requirements
  • Support system accreditation, compliance, and audit activities
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, and performance issues
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in cloud or infrastructure engineering roles
  • Hands-on experience supporting AWS environments
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (VPC, VPN, routing, firewalls)
  • Experience implementing IAM and security best practices
  • Strong Linux and/or Windows systems administration experience
  • Ability to operate in secure, compliance-driven environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) Certification
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or CloudOps certification
  • Experience with hybrid cloud and on-prem integration
  • Experience supporting Kubernetes platforms
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging platforms
  • Experience with Zero Trust architectures
  • Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs
  • Experience with cost optimization and FinOps practices
