Job description

Position Summary

The South Berkeley Fire District is currently accepting applications for Junior Firefighter. This position is an entry level position and applies to high school students between the ages of 14 and 18 who are new to the department. Junior Firefighters will receive training related to a career in the fire service. They will be responsible for participating in all activities related to the program.

  • Must be at least 14 years of age and have entered high school
  • Must maintain a 2.0 grade point average

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Junior Firefighter meetings are held on Tuesday evening and Saturday morning.
  • Junior Firefighters are expected to attend 50% of the scheduled training meetings.
  • Participate in required training, drills, and continuing education
  • Maintain compliance with District policies, SOPs, and safety standards
