The Division of Student Affairs at The University of Mississippi is seeking a dynamic and talented Director of the Ole Miss Student Union.

The Division of Student Affairs enhances and complements the academic mission of the University by providing services, programs, and facilities that foster student growth, engagement, and success. With more than 200 staff members, the division serves over 23,000 students across the Oxford campus through programs and services that support student success, well-being, access and opportunity, involvement, community engagement, and leadership. The mission of Student Affairs is to facilitate a holistic, student-centered experience that nurtures the growth, development, and talents of every student in preparation for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and success.

Job Summary:

The individual serving in this position will play a crucial role in providing leadership and strategic direction for the Ole Miss Student Union as a central hub for campus community, engagement, and student learning through co-curricular experiences.
Provides leadership and strategic direction for the Ole Miss Student Union as a central hub for campus community, engagement, and student learning through co-curricular experiences. Advances the role of the college union as a community builder that fosters connection, leadership development, and a sense of belonging. Oversees facilities, programs, services, and governance processes that support registered student organizations and campus partners while stewarding shared campus space to enhance collaboration and campus life. Manages personnel, financial resources, and strategic initiatives that promote high-impact co-curricular experiences and operational excellence. Collaborates across the institution to ensure responsive operations, effective risk management, and alignment with university priorities that support student success, retention, and community well-being.
This position reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.

Job Description:

  • Oversees daily operations of the Ole Miss Student Union, including student organization governance, co-curricular engagement initiatives, and building and facility management.
  • Facilitates the development, planning, implementation, promotion, and assessment of 150+ annual campus programs and student activities.
  • Manages departmental personnel, including professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees.
  • Directs and assesses the annual departmental budget, including general operating funds, Student Activity Fee allocations, and Foundation accounts.
  • Provides strategic leadership for campus space reservation processes.
  • Advises departmental-supported student organizations on programming efforts and leadership development (Associated Student Body, Leadership & Engagement Ambassadors, Ole Miss Big Event, RebelTHON, Student Activities Association).
  • Mentors and supports student leaders through The ForUM platform, fostering engagement, accountability, and leadership growth across registered student organizations.
  • Coordinates response and consultation for student and family concerns, in partnership with the Dean of Students Office, including after-hours and weekend crises.
  • Co-chairs the First Amendment Support Team (FAST), guiding campus initiatives that uphold free speech and expressive rights in alignment with policy and constitutional standards.
  • Promotes compliance with university policies and legal standards while supporting expressive activity on campus.
  • Oversees fundraising initiatives, including grant and proposal development, resource allocation, and reporting on funded programs and events.
  • Leads planning and execution of supports the selection process for Who's Who Among Students and provides support for the Student Hall of Fame process.
  • Formulates and evaluates policies and procedures that advance student success and align with institutional strategic goals.
  • Develops and implements departmental assessment and strategic plans aligned with divisional mission, vision, and core values.
  • Leads strategic marketing initiatives to enhance program visibility, participation, and engagement.
