Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inspect fleet terminal tractors, vehicles/equipment for tire problems.
  • Check and record tire pressures.
  • Inflate all tires to correct pressure.
  • Inspect and fill hubs with hub oil. Inspect lug nuts and tire rims.
  • Replace wheel studs as needed.
  • Change tires when needed.
  • Ensure accuracy of received supplies/materials.
  • Organize tire inventory.
  • Respond to any off-port service calls. Drive automobiles or service trucks to industrial or other sites to provide services and respond to emergency calls.
  • Perform equipment dispatch duties.
  • Perform all duties of a Service Technician as needed.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry heavy tires and wheels (frequently 50+ pounds) from floor to chest or vehicle level.
  • Ability to consistently stand, bend, kneel, climb on and off elevated surfaces for duration of an 8-hour shift.
  • Maintain ability to bend, squat, crouch, twist, climb, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to reach both above and below head to complete necessary tasks.
  • Work in an outdoor environment where tasks must be performed in the elements.
  • Ability to hear audio for alarms, radio communication, and equipment sounds.
  • Maintain physical ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner while maintaining safety.
  • Use basic hand tools to perform routine repairs or maintenance to equipment.
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain focus and safety practices during mission-critical tasks that may be repetitive.
  • Handle and change commercial trailer tires weighing approximately 480 pounds, using appropriate tire-changing equipment, lifting devices, and safe handling procedures.
  • Handle, inspect, remove, install, and replace commercial pneumatic tires weighing approximately 90 pounds each.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Follow company procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrate reliability, safety, and a positive team member through proper attendance and conduct.
  • Ability to work assigned shift as instructed by leadership and maintain flexibility to adjust schedule as needed.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Valid Drivers' License
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC card
