Job description

Responsibilities

The Director of Oil & Gas is responsible for leading ECS's strategy and growth across the oil and gas sector, including upstream, midstream, and downstream markets and related energy infrastructure. This role drives client development, national account growth, and cross-subsidiary collaboration to expand ECS's presence in oil and gas markets. Chantilly, VA is the preferred location however, this is a National opportunity and the ideal candidate can be located in any region with established ECS operations (Mid-Atlantic, Southwest, Southeast, Florida).

Responsibilities

  • Direct the development and execution of strategies to identify, qualify, and convert opportunities within the oil and gas sector to build long-term client relationships.
  • Provide strategic leadership on oil and gas market trends, including exploration and production, pipelines and gathering systems, LNG facilities, refining, petrochemical complexes, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of national oil and gas clients, targeting significant annual revenue growth across ECS subsidiaries.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, emerging technologies, and geographic markets relevant to oil and gas infrastructure.
  • Lead capture planning and proposal strategies for major oil and gas pursuits, coordinating resources across ECS offices and service lines.
  • Collaborate with subsidiary leadership to cross-sell ECS service lines, including geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction materials testing, and facilities services, to support oil and gas projects
  • Serve as a strategic resource for offices pursuing oil and gas work, providing guidance on client engagement, contracting strategies, and risk management.
  • Mentor national account managers, project leaders, and technical staff involved in oil and gas pursuits.
  • Support the development of a consistent national business development process for oil and gas opportunities across ECS.
  • Hire and develop specialized personnel or subject matter experts as needed to support growth in the sector.
  • Represent ECS in industry organizations, conferences, and client forums related to oil and gas and energy infrastructure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in oil and gas consulting, engineering, account management, or infrastructure development.
  • BS/BA degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, business or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • MS preferred.
  • If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.
  • Demonstrated success developing client relationships across upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas markets, including LNG, pipelines, refining and petrochemical facilities.
  • Broad understanding of services commonly required for oil and gas projects including geotechnical engineering, environmental services, construction materials testing, and facilities consulting.
  • Proven ability to develop and expand high-value client relationships and national accounts.
  • Strong understanding of oil and gas project delivery methods and procurement processes.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and managing associated risk with support from corporate counsel.
  • Ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams across multiple offices and geographic regions.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify emerging markets opportunities and position ECS accordingly.
