Position Summary:
Seeking candidates with prior or active Operator Qualifications (OQs). A labor (A-Tech) is required to perform intensive physical construction labor duties such as hand digging while utilizing various tools and methods around all underground utilities for service and main work that is being performed. This will include but not limited to digging trenches and/or ditches, backfill and compacting in addition to skilled technical work that is related to the installation, maintenance, and operation of natural gas facilities which will be performed under the supervision of a gas foreman. In addition, as an A-Tech, it is imperative to have proficient safety skills, quality workmanship and a trustworthy reputation to provide the utmost degree of value in every task that you perform.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the crew with the construction and installation of natural gas mains and service lines utilizing various pipe joining methods.
  • Maintain a high level of expertise in the installation and repair of underground gas facilities.
  • Operate construction equipment such as, Dump Trucks, Loaders, Tampers, Air Compressors, and Fusion equipment.
  • Must maintain the cleanliness of all company owned and rented vehicles/equipment that you operate is required. In addition, all fluids need to be checked prior to operation and any fitting that requires grease needs to be checked and/or greased daily.
  • Thorough knowledge of the hazards associated with working around natural gas, heavy equipment at/near trenches and all the additional safety precautions.
  • The ability to navigate through the gas construction standards and O&Ms associated with each task that is being performed.
  • Lift/carry materials and performs other duties involving the use of hand and power tools
  • Must be able to hand dig with a shovel and dig bars
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.

Position Qualifications:
  • Be willing to travel throughout Dutchess, Orange and Rockland Counties, New York
  • Previous natural gas/utility/construction experience required
  • Personal transportation available to and from job site
  • Must pass Operator Qualification exams and hands-on exam
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
