  • Form and lead cross-functional project teams, including project engineers, project controls personnel, construction managers, and safety managers, to ensure coordinated and effective project execution.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders across the corporation-including operations, maintenance, procurement, finance, EHS, and other functional departments-to build consensus and ensure alignment on project objectives, priorities, and execution strategies.

  • Select and apply best available technologies by leveraging internal expertise and industry networks.
  • Oversee and manage outside engineering firms and contractors, including design deliverables, inspection services, and installation work.
  • Execution & Coordination
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with operations, maintenance, procurement, quality, accounting, and EHS teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Manage project risks by identifying potential technical, operational, and safety concerns, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring business continuity.
  • Monitor equipment manufacturing and delivery schedules to ensure on-time installation.
  • Oversee commissioning, start-up, and acceptance testing of new systems, including training for operating personnel.

  • Financial & Schedule Management
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • Track expenditures, control costs, and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
  • Implement change management processes to control scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • In alignment with the Safety First core value, develop and implement detailed project safety plans for all phases of each project, while engaging internal and external contributors to drive exceptional safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and corporate governance policies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project execution methods, reduce costs, and enhance facility performance through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current on new technologies, materials, and methods through industry engagement, plant visits, and professional development.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline (required).
  • 7+ years of project management experience in large industrial capital projects (steel, oil & gas, power, heavy manufacturing, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience managing the full project lifecycle-from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
