Job description

Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas. We are focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.
The Oil and Gas Marketing Intern will own an assigned summer project while working directly on business functions such as the review of oil and gas related sales arrangements, allocation procedures, contracts, gas settlement statements, and the tracking of market pricing.
Duration: Approximately 12 weeks (May - August 2027)
Job Responsibilities:
Include, but are not limited to:
  • Work on an assigned, individual Marketing project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback's executive team
  • Support day-to-day Energy Transactions activity under the direction of an assigned, experienced mentor
  • Work directly with teams across Operations and other disciplines to experience what working in an Oil & Gas Exploration and Production company is like
  • Assist with daily scheduling and nomination functions, daily production, sales, and flaring reports
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Accounting to understand the accrual process
  • Review purchase contracts and summarize key commercial terms
  • Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and completions spread
  • Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors that support the Midland-Odessa community

Required Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Energy Commerce, Energy Marketing (or similar) with a focus on Energy Transactions or similar discipline
  • Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship
  • Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher
  • Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience
