Job description

2nd shift - Monday-Thursday (3p-1a)

PURPOSE/SCOPE:

Support production operations with ability to perform regular production inspections & new tooling layouts by using any lab measurement equipment. Operates and maintains OGP, CMM, vision system, and all other Metrology lab equipment. In addition, must have the ability to perform basic programming for automatic lab equipment & complete a PPAP submission.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capable of using all lab manual & programmable measurement equipment.
  • Able to complete basic programming for metrology equipment to measure parts efficiently & accurately.
  • Plex information - review, interpret, & react appropriately (Ref WI-QA-718).
  • Basic blueprint reading skills including GD & T.
  • Understanding of lab operations, interactions with other depts., & purpose (ref. lab mission statement).
  • Capable of using all lab activity logs properly.
  • Understands lab safety.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining a neat, clean, and well-organized quality lab.
  • Other appropriate duties as required by the Metrology Lab Manager.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years’ experience using spreadsheets.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

  • CMI/CQT certification or refresher course.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • ISO 9000 / IATF 16949
    • SPC (Statistical Process Control)
    • Basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
    • R & R studies
    • Computers
    • Mechanical inspection and layout techniques
  • Must be able to use:
    • Vision System
    • Optical Comparator
    • C.M.M. (Coordinate Measuring Machine)
    • Basic math skills
    • SPC (Statistical Process Control)
    • Computers
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in quality control or a related area (performing layout and sample submissions, capability studies, or, three years in quality at Trans-Matic).
  • Must be able to work independently and well under pressure.
