Overview
This post is to build a talent pool for upcoming projects this fall/winter.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the HSE manager, the employee serves as the primary on-site HSE advisor/liaison for the rig leadership team and HSE department. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations and Doyon Drilling policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local HSE regulations, policies and standards
  • Maintains a strong presence onsite performing safety and environmental audits, walkthroughs, and inspections. Communicates findings and recommendations by written reports to field supervisors and HSE manager
  • Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports. This includes Tap-Root Incident Investigations and Corrective Action reports (CARs)
  • Assists the HSE manager in developing, implementing, and communicating health, safety and environmental programs, procedures and policies
  • Provides support, guidance and training to field personnel on regulatory compliance information and techniques
  • Acts as a field liaison between Doyon Drilling and its customers and/or third party contractors
  • Provides a daily, weekly and monthly reports to the HSE manager as required
  • Assist HSE manager in waste characterization activities
  • Participates in regularly scheduled rig safety meetings
  • Helps to develop and monitor emergency action plans
  • Perform other duties assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years previous experience in a HSE position
  • Ability to organize and conduct a site HSE audit, risk analysis and incident investigations
  • Possess excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor degree in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment
  • Previous experience in a HSE position with another oil/gas drilling contractor
  • Course work in HSE related topics (i.e., Tap-Root, OSHA, etc.)
  • North Slope Experience

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions. Temperatures reaching as low as 50 degrees below zero during the winter months. Employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, extreme heat and high noise levels. Employee will work in an environment where there is risk that they will be exposed to toxic, caustic and/or hazardous chemicals, fumes or airborne particles. Workers are required to wear personal protective equipment on the job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
An individual will be required to work the majority of hours in a remote industrial environment, and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands. Occasional lifting up to (1-50 lbs.) is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
