Experience with drop trailer, drop-and-hook, power-only, dedicated transportation, or trailer management is highly preferred.
This is a highly visible leadership position with significant ownership over team performance, operational execution, carrier relationships, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and operational guidance across the broader organization through strong cross-functional collaboration and influence.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of PLS's Drop Trailer program, ensuring shipments are scheduled, dispatched, tracked, and delivered efficiently.
  • Coordinate with carriers, drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure timely pickup and delivery of freight.
  • Manage trailer availability, positioning, utilization, and coordination across customer locations.
  • Monitor shipment activity and proactively identify and resolve service issues, delays, missed pickups, and other operational challenges.
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication between the operations team, carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage high-volume freight while maintaining strong service levels and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners and transportation providers.
  • Monitor key operational metrics and hold direct reports and operational partners accountable to performance expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce transportation costs, increase trailer utilization, and improve overall service.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex shipment, carrier, and customer issues.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Carrier Management, Customer Service, and other internal teams to ensure operational needs are aligned with customer expectations.
  • Assist with training and development of team members and help establish best practices across the Drop Trailer operation.
  • Maintain accurate shipment and operational information within PLS systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and transportation requirements.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, dispatch, dedicated transportation, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience leading or supervising an operations, dispatch, logistics, or transportation team.
  • Experience working in a high-volume transportation or 3PL environment.
  • Strong understanding of freight operations, carrier management, and shipment execution.
  • Experience with drop trailers, drop-and-hook, power-only, dedicated transportation, or trailer/equipment management strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing or working with offshore/remote operations teams is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple shipments, carriers, and operational issues simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold a team accountable.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with transportation management systems, Microsoft Office, and other logistics technology.
What We Offer
  • Top-tier compensation
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Strong work/life balance
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture
