Job description

Equix Energy Services is an energy and utilities contractor that provides high-quality pipeline and facility construction services. The Equix team is built on pride in the workmanship and abilities of our crews. Our Core group of in-house welders have extensive knowledge and background in pipeline and fabrication welding. We have a current opening for a Directional Driller. At Equix, we support our customers and stakeholders and constantly strive to exceed expectations with all of our services, which include: Pipeline Construction, Gas Distribution, Horizontal Directional Drilling, Facility Construction and Fabrication, and Trenching services.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate Horizontal Directional Drills for underground utility installations
  • Locate existing utilities
  • Maintain all equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines while reporting any findings to supervisor
  • Communicate work progress and safety performance to the site supervision
  • Prepare construction sites as directed from the Foreman/Superintendent on the job
  • Proven ability to operate heavy equipment or directional drilling experience
  • Valid driver/operator license
  • High school diploma or equivalent or at least one year of experience in the inside and/or outside gas contracting sector
  • Must hold a valid Class A CDL along with DOT Medical Card
  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade
  • Knowledge of basic equipment and vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a good understanding of Underground concepts and techniques, including project control, planning and resource management
  • Must present a professional image at all times, representing self and company in a professional, courteous and respectful manner when dealing with customers, vendors, employees and the public
  • Skilled with various hand and power tools – Required
  • Knowledge of gas lines
  • Competent operating excavators, backhoe, trencher, etc.
  • Valid driver license and driving record in compliance with our policy
  • OQs Certification

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an HDD Rig Operator
  • Knowledge of Vermeer & Digitrak equipment
  • Ability to understand construction prints and specifications
  • Valid Driver License with clean record
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screening
  • Traveling out of town to work on remote job sites when needed or directed by manager
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
  •  Sit, stand and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday
  • Stand, reach, drive and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the day
  • Regularly bend, kneel, squat and climb throughout the workday
  • Must work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety of him/herself or others
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 100 pounds
  • Ability to drive on a stop and start basis daily and continually, getting in and out of trucks and/or equipment multiple times during the course of the day
  • Standing, walking including and primarily on uneven surfaces, turning, stooping, kneeling, crouching, speaking and hearing are required continuously
  • Close vision is required for some functions and distance and peripheral vision is required for safety
  • Employee will be subjected to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts
  • Employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat and risk of electric shock and vibration
  • Must be able to work in loud work environments
  • The employee is frequently exposed to slow- or fast-moving traffic in the work environment
