Job description


The Testing Technician is responsible for the assemble and testing of equipment, component parts and finished assemblies to confirm product meets the specifications prior to shipment to client. May require travel to provide support of installation, repair or service as needed in offshore and international requirements.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL:
  • Assemble, disassemble and test assemblies for onshore and offshore surface and sub-sea applications.
  • Interpret test data to meet client and internal specifications.
  • Document test results as required on each project.
  • Maintain training and competency requirements for each work center and special skill.
  • Installation of fittings and hardware on hydraulic hoses.
  • Perform high pressure testing of hydraulic hoses, tubes and umbilicals.
  • Perform electrical testing of electrical components and umbilicals.

ADDITIONAL:
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
REQUIRED:
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude, ready blueprints, following schematics and work instructions.
  • Computer skills a must with ability to interpret, record and report test data.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) to access work location

DESIRED:
  • HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydrostatic and electrical testing preferred.
  • Passport may be required to travel outside the US. Ability to work offshore when needed for extended periods of time in support of offshore work or installation support.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Ability to operate pneumatic and electric hydraulic pumps.
  • Maintains equipment used for testing in good working order and may be asked to perform preventative maintenance and repair.
  • Skilled in the use of electrical test equipment and interpret electric test results.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to evaluate and repair polyethylene jacket of umbilicals using certified work instructions defined within competency program.
  • Ability to communicate with others, including production team, clients or installation crews.
  • Be able to complete and maintain certifications and physical requirements for offshore work.
  • Ability to travel internationally without restrictions. May require proof of vaccination based on travel requirements.

Working Conditions:
  • Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
  • Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels and the light is intense/glare.
  • Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Work surface is stable, height is elevated.
