Job description

Application Instructions
Sterling Infrastructure is looking for an experienced Office 365 Architect to take ownership of the architecture, governance, security, and long-term direction of our Microsoft 365 environment.
This is more than an administration role. We're looking for someone who can look at how Microsoft 365 is being used across the organization, identify opportunities to improve it, and build the standards and roadmap that will support the business as we continue to grow.
Why Sterling Infrastructure?
If you're looking for a role where you can have a real impact instead of simply maintaining what already exists, this is it. Sterling is a growing infrastructure company with a complex, evolving technology environment. You'll have the opportunity to help shape how Microsoft 365 is used across the organization, partner directly with IT and cybersecurity leadership, and influence decisions around collaboration, security, governance, integrations, and future technology.
You won't just support the environment - you'll help define where it goes next.
Position Description
What You'll Do
    • Own and develop the Microsoft 365 architecture roadmap, governance standards, and platform strategy.
    • Architect and optimize Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, and related Microsoft 365 services.
    • Establish governance around Teams, SharePoint, Microsoft 365 Groups, guest access, external sharing, retention, and lifecycle management.
    • Strengthen identity and access controls including Conditional Access, MFA, privileged access, access reviews, and least-privilege administration.
    • Partner with Cybersecurity to improve Microsoft 365 security, data protection, audit capabilities, and compliance.
    • Lead tenant-to-tenant migrations, mailbox and content migrations, Teams transitions, and M&A integration planning.
    • Use PowerShell and Microsoft Graph to improve administration, reporting, and automation.
    • Evaluate licensing, adoption, utilization, and configuration to reduce risk, control costs, and improve the overall Microsoft 365 environment.
    • Serve as the Microsoft 365 subject matter expert and provide guidance and knowledge transfer to other IT teams.

Position Requirements
What You Bring
    • 5+ years of experience administering, architecting, or supporting Microsoft 365 in an enterprise environment.
    • 3+ years designing or improving Microsoft 365 governance, identity, security, compliance, collaboration, or migration practices.
    • Strong hands-on experience with Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 administration.
    • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, guest governance, security hardening, and data protection.
    • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 migrations and integrations, including tenant-to-tenant or M&A environments.
    • Proficiency with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
    • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
    • Microsoft 365, Security, or Identity certifications are a plus.
