General Manager - Dispensary
The Garden Dispensary | Dayton, Ohio
Reports To: Regional Manager | Full-Time, Exempt |
About The Garden
The Garden is proud to serve Ohio's cannabis community with integrity, compliance, and
exceptional customer care. As the industry continues to expand, The Garden remains
committed to setting the standard for professional, safe, and educational cannabis retail
experiences. We're seeking an experienced General Manager (GM) to support
our leadership team in daily operations, compliance oversight, and staff development.
Position Overview
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations within the facility, ensuring efficiency, productivity, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
This role involves managing production teams, optimizing workflows, reducing costs, and driving profitability while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Regulatory Compliance & Oversight
โ€ข Enforce compliance with all DCC rules and regulations.
โ€ข Support management of inventory control, Metrc entries, and internal audits.
โ€ข Train and coach staff on cannabis policies, purchase limits, ID verification (21+), and
packaging compliance.
โ€ข Monitor and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to align with state laws.
โ€ข Daily Operations & Retail Management
โ€ข Assist with scheduling, floor supervision, and staff coverage.
โ€ข Oversee product receiving, reconciliation, and inventory presentation.
โ€ข Manage opening and closing duties, cash handling, and POS oversight.
โ€ข Support sales reporting, KPI analysis, and implementation of compliant promotional
strategies.
โ€ข Customer Service Leadership
โ€ข Staff Development & Training
โ€ข Support hiring, onboarding, and continuous staff training.
โ€ข Track completion of all DCC-mandated certifications.
โ€ข Conduct coaching sessions, evaluations, and mentorship for career development.
โ€ข Communication & Reporting
โ€ข Generate and review daily operational and compliance reports.
โ€ข Liaise with vendors, inspectors, and DCC representatives as needed.
โ€ข Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, audits, and employee activity.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cannabis operations or 10 years in manufacturing management.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, supply chain management, and logistics.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills with budgeting experience.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, manufacturing software, and process automation tools.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety regulations (OSHA, GMP, ISO standards, etc.).
