Job description

Head of Operations / Director of Operations

Compensation Package : $160,000 + benefits package

We are looking for an exceptional operations leader to take our ecommerce fulfilment operation and turn it into a scalable, high-performing engine for national growth

J&J Global Fulfilment has built a strong eCommerce fulfillment operation in Columbus, Ohio. Now, as part of QLS Group, the largest independent eCommerce fulfillment provider in Europe, we are entering a much bigger chapter. The US is one of the most significant growth opportunities in the Group. We have the customers, the sites, the demand, and we are an international business with serious ambition.

This is not a steady-state role. It is a build-and-scale opportunity for someone who knows how to raise standards, strengthen leaders, drive performance, improve cost discipline, and create the operational engine for our next chapter in the US.

Who are we?

We’re a trusted tech-enabled fulfilment partner for hundreds of eCommerce brands globally. We’re now the largest independent ecommerce fulfillment provider in Europe, but we’re just getting started.

Following a merger at the end of 2025 with QLS Group we are building on our established presence in the UK, Europe and USA. With the recent appointment of our US Managing Director, our USA operations - one of the most significant growth opportunities within the group - are entering a pivotal phase. This search for our Operations leader, working closely alongside them, will be central to strengthening our operational capability and infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing:

This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership role with real ownership. Reporting to our US Managing Director, you will lead operational performance across two Columbus fulfillment centers, own the operational P&L, and build the standards, systems and leadership capability needed to support national growth.

You will move comfortably between daily execution and long-term strategy: driving service, quality, cost and productivity today, while shaping the operational platform that allows us to scale tomorrow.

We need someone who can raise standards, strengthen leaders, embed continuous improvement, and ensure we deliver fast, accurate, reliable service for our clients as we grow.

Key Responsibilities:

Multi-site leadership & performance: Oversee end to end operations across 2 fulfillment centers, ensuring adherence to clients SLA’s and on time dispatch

P&L ownership & cost optimization: Management of the operational budget, forecasting, and driving year on year margin improvements

CI & Lean culture: Champion Lean / Kaizen methodologies to eliminate waste, optimize throughput, and support the integration of new automation

Network strategy & expansion: Lead capacity planning, inventory optimization, and the strategy, build and launch of new fulfilment centers across the US.

You will also work closely with Sales, Client Success, Onboarding, Finance and Group leadership to ensure the operation supports commercial growth, protects client relationships and delivers a consistent, high-quality customer experience. This is a role where operational performance directly shapes customer confidence, retention and future revenue.

Team Development & Culture: Build a safe, inclusive and high performing culture by coaching and mentoring operational leaders and managing performance

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for an operations leader who has already proven they can run at scale.

You may be an experienced multi-site leader, or you may be the standout leader of a major single-site operation who is ready for the next step. Either way, you will have the credibility, pace and operational judgement to lead large frontline teams, improve performance and build a scalable platform for growth.

You will bring:

Significant experience in high-volume fulfillment, logistics, warehouse or eCommerce operations

Experience leading either multi-site operations or a large, complex single-site operation with clear readiness for broader network ownership

Strong accountability for SLA delivery, safety, quality, productivity, labour planning and cost performance

A track record of raising standards, improving operational discipline and delivering measurable performance improvement

Experience scaling teams, capacity, systems or automation in a fast-moving environment

Strong budget and cost control capability, with a commercial mindset and clear understanding of operational P&L

The ability to coach, challenge and develop managers into strong, accountable leaders

Confidence using data, Lean, Kaizen or continuous improvement methods to remove waste, simplify processes and improve customer outcomes

The resilience and judgement to balance long-term strategy with the daily realities of a high volume operation

Our hiring process:

  • If you're shortlisted, you'll be invited to complete a short video interview so we can get to know you better.
  • You'll have a couple of interviews and the opportunity tour the fulfillment centers.
  • You get offered the job and start your amazing new role with J&J Global Fulfilment.
