About the Role
SOMOS-IWT is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support our manufacturing, integration, and engineering operations in Colorado Springs.
This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring the timely and reliable flow of materials required to meet production schedules, support R&D efforts, and fulfill customer commitments. The position works at the intersection of production, engineering, and suppliers, translating demand into actionable procurement while managing cost, lead time, and supply risk.
This is a high-impact, high-ownership procurement role where you drive outcomes-not just process transactions. This is not a purely transactional role-we are looking for someone who can think, prioritize, and act with urgency in a dynamic environment.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Core Procurement Execution - Place and manage purchase orders to support manufacturing, integration, and service needs - Track supplier commitments and proactively expedite critical components - Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules and delivery targets - Own Supplier and Material Master data
  • Supplier Coordination & Negotiation - Communicate directly with suppliers to manage pricing, lead times, and delivery performance - Support negotiations and drive accountability with key vendors - Resolve issues related to late deliveries, quality concerns, and order discrepancies
  • Production & Engineering Alignment - Work closely with Manufacturing and Engineering to understand material requirements - Translate build schedules and engineering needs into procurement actions - Support urgent and unplanned demand tied to production or field service
  • Planning Awareness - Monitor demand signals and identify potential shortages or risks - Support basic inventory planning for critical components - Communicate supply risks early to prevent production disruptions R&D & Prototype Support - Source materials for prototype builds and development programs - Identify suppliers capable of supporting low-volume, high-mix requirements
  • What We're Looking For
  • Required Experience - 2-4 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment - Experience working with ERP/MRP systems for purchasing and inventory control - Ability to operate in a fast-paced, execution-driven environment
  • Required Skills - Strong organizational and prioritization skills - Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent needs - Effective communication across suppliers, engineering, and operations - Practical problem-solving mindset - Experience with multi-level BoMs
