Job description

Job Summary

General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA‑SI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a provider of military and commercial engineering services. GA‑SI is a leading‑edge expert in systems integration technologies, reliability improvements, and control system design.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a UAV Pilot to join our Aero Services Division. Employees can live in any state but must be able to deploy both CONUS and OCONUS in support of company projects. Employees in this role enjoy a Flex deployment rotation schedule of roughly 12‑16 weeks working and 12 weeks off while maintaining full benefits. Flex employees work only while deployed or in a training status and receive competitive deployment compensation.

Under close supervision, this position is responsible for coordinating ground and flight operations efforts, including mission planning, execution and briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and ground and flight safety. The pilot will serve as Pilot‑in‑Command (PIC) of assigned Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and actively participate in ground and flight operations efforts, including mission planning, execution, briefing, debriefing, aircrew resource management, and safety.
  • Remotely pilot UAVs to determine compliance with specification and operational suitability during engineering tests and flight test/demonstration support through specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers.
  • Define, plan, organize, and execute flight programs and flight test events.
  • Ensure compliance with service guidance, company policy and procedures, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • Conduct demonstrations and tests of assigned UAV(s) as required.
  • Represent the organization with military and commercial customers as needed.
  • Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a four‑year technical degree or trade school equivalency. Equivalent professional or military experience in UAV or aviation may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate a basic understanding of UAV and FAA principles, theories, and concepts.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with a current instrument rating and the ability to maintain instrument currency or DOD‑specialized remotely piloted aircraft system training / qualification documented on USAF Form 8, or equivalent PIC or PIC with CFI rating.
  • Ability to travel on CONUS and OCONUS deployments.
  • Good analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately interface with all levels of employees and military and civilian customers, contractors, and aircrew; basic knowledge of computer operations and applications.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, with the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.

Job Type: Flex Hourly

Salary range: 59,410 - 90,730
