Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for endoscopy care according to accepted standards.
  • Prepares endoscopy suite and equipment prior to procedures according to hospital policies and specific physician’s orders.
  • Maintains adequate supplies in room. Terminally disinfects and cleans room and equipment before and after patient care.
  • Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in endoscopy procedures, their purpose, expected results and safety factors involved, endoscopy equipment, GI tract anatomy, airway maintenance, patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and families, medical terminology and other needed clinical competencies.
  • Enacts patient and family centered care, including a wellness-centered approach to care.
  • Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
  •  Responsible for gathering, checking and preparing supplies/equipment for surgical cases.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment according to Surgical Standards.
  •   Sterilely donning OR attire and personal protective equipment (PPE). Assists other team members with sterile gowning and gloving.
  •      Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
  • Performs or assists in sterile prep as needed/requested by monitoring aseptic techniques of surgical team members at field, reporting and correcting breaks in sterile technique immediately, and controlling location of contaminated instruments and supplies.

Required Skills

Licensure and Certification: 

  1. BLS required within 30 days of hire date.
  2. Current EMT or CNA certification preferred. 

Required Experience

Experience Required: 

  1. Previous experience as Endoscopy TechnicianOne (1) year experience in endoscopy or related field required. 
  2. Demonstrates clinical competency and understanding of all types of endoscopy procedures.
