Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Ports and Navigation Senior Project Manager based in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as Project Manager for small to large ports and navigation projects including dredging, beneficial use of dredged materials, feasibility studies and costal restoration projects.
  • Provides technical leadership for projects from the planning phase through construction on all aspects of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrates experience in conventional and advanced technologies and alternative delivery projects.
  • Competent in all aspects of project delivery, including scope, schedule, finance, and quality.
  • Prepares technical memoranda, planning studies and final design calculations, plans and specifications.
  • Coordinates with other discipline leads, clients, consultants, and agencies in management and implementation of projects.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods.
  • Assists in identifying opportunities, development of proposals and statement of qualifications.
  • Builds and maintain relationships with clients and Industry professionals.
  • Actively participates in ports and marine industry specific conferences and professional organizations.
  • Provides technical direction and mentorship for junior staff.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Coastal, Ocean, Naval Architecture, or Civil Engineering plus 8 years of relevant work experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education 
  • Texas Professional Engineer License 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Twelve (12) years of relevant experience (i.e. construction, previous work with consultants, etc.)
  • M.S. degree in Coastal or Ocean Engineering or relevant field is preferred
  • Prior experience with Galveston, Fort Worth, Mobile, and New Orleans Districts or other Districts of the USACE and Texas and/or state projects preferred.
  • Reputation as a high performer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in business development and project delivery.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge or familiarity in AutoCAD and/or GIS.
  • Ability to work both independently and in group environments.
  • Willingness to travel (typically for one to three days occasionally).
