Description

Job Purpose: The Occupational Safety and Health Intern will support the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team in promoting a safe and compliant work environment within a manufacturing setting. This internship provides hands-on experience in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, hazard identification, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties:

  • Assist with daily safety operations and EHS initiatives across the manufacturing facility
  • Conduct safety inspections, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments under supervision 
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking 
  • Help maintain safety documentation, training records, and OSHA-required logs 
  • Participate in safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and employee engagement activities 
  • Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and safety program updates 
  • Collect and analyze safety data to identify trends and improvement opportunities 
  • Support environmental and industrial hygiene initiatives as needed 
  • Perform other EHS-related duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field 
  • Strong interest in workplace safety and manufacturing environments 
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures 
  • Ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels 
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative 
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to walk the production floor and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Occasional lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
