Job description

Registered Nurse (RN), Observation

Job Type: Full-Time 0.75 FTE or 60 hours/pp

Schedule: 5 x 12-hour shifts, Nights (7p-7a), Rotating Weekends and Holidays

$7,500 Sign-On Bonus available to qualified applicants

Enjoy the fast pace of the Emergency Department combined with the clinical depth of inpatient care. In our Observation Unit, you'll play a key role in monitoring patients, supporting timely clinical decisions, and helping guide them safely to the next step in their care-whether that's admission or discharge. It's a dynamic environment where your assessment skills, critical thinking, and teamwork make an immediate and meaningful impact.

How you'll contribute

An Observation RN who excels in this role:

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

  • Documents patient care given.

  • Work closely with providers to ensure patients meet observation criteria. Monitor patients for a period of 24-48 hours to assess their condition and determine if they need to be admitted as an inpatient or discharged.

  • Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's preferred).

Additional requirements include

  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)
