They are trained to manage complicated and uncomplicated pregnancies, deliver babies, and address reproductive health issues. Obstetricians often work closely with gynecologists and may be referred to as OB-GYNs, who provide both obstetric and gynecological care. Their role is essential in ensuring the health and safety of both mothers and babies throughout the pregnancy and birth process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an obstetrician, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Obstetrician, you need an MD or DO degree, completion of a residency in obstetrics and gynecology, and board certification. Proficiency with ultrasound technology, electronic health records (EHRs), and surgical instruments is essential for diagnosing and managing pregnancies and deliveries.
