THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TNย 

The Medical Technical Assistant 1 (CMA) provides nursing support for OB/GYN Nurse Practitioners and Resident Physicians in Graduate Medical Education outpatient setting.

EDUCATION:ย  High School Diploma or GED.ย (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of work experience in outpatient medicine. Must maintain CPR certification. (Experience with Obstetrical and Internal Medicine is preferred. Experience to speak Spanish preferred.)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: CMA, CCMA, or equivalent. ย 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of EMR systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time.

WORK SCHEDULE:ย This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.

  1. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment and supplies and assists physicians and nurse practitioners with procedures.ย 
  2. Stands in as chaperon when appropriate.
  3. Obtains vitals and brief health history, escorts patient to the exam room, enters quality data into electronic medical record, and administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections per orders.
  4. Assists with coding and billing. ย 
  5. Assists with sending lab orders.ย 
  6. Performs telephone triage as needed following established protocols.
  7. Schedules referrals to specialists as needed.
  8. Performs duties as assigned.ย
