Position Summary

The Hockey Coach supports Berger Foundation Iceplex hockey programs by assisting with on-ice instruction, skill development, and event support. This is a hands-on, part-time role ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic, dependable, and interested in growing as hockey coaches within a structured environment.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $20.00-$22.00

The Berger Foundation Iceplex supports a wide range of hockey development programs, from learn-to-play through adult leagues, with a strong focus on safety, inclusion, and player experience. Responsibilities
  • Assist with on-ice instruction for hockey classes, practices, and clinics
  • Support lead coaches during group sessions and events
  • Maintain attendance and assist with basic skill evaluations
  • Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all participants
  • Communicate Iceplex rules, procedures, and expectations to players and parents
  • Prepare equipment and assist with maintaining a safe on-ice environment
  • Provide basic first aid when required
  • Follow all Iceplex and USA Hockey safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Hockey Department
Qualifications
  • Valid USA Hockey membership
  • USA Hockey SafeSport certification
  • Ability to skate proficiently and demonstrate basic hockey skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with participants of all ages
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically active environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior coaching, teaching, or youth program experience
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Experience assisting with hockey practices or clinics
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work in an on-ice and rink-side environment with exposure to cold temperatures and physical activity
