Starting payrate at hire based on prior EMS & EMT experience. We are seeking New York State certified EMT-Basics who are looking to work weekends - this would be a great part-time job for a college student or someone with a full-time job looking to make some extra money in time for the holidays!

Mohawk is hiring confident EMTs to provide patients with basic life support and transport to medical facilities. EMTs collaborate with other emergency medical personnel to stabilize patients, and to arrange their reception at medical facilities. EMTs must be accountable to their patients, conduct themselves in a professional manner, be positive, and commit to continue their EMS education to become the best provider possible. An EMT is responsible for completing a 2 person crew that will respond to 911 calls for service, provide appropriate patient care, and complete electronic care reports for each incident.

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the assigned and essential functions.

  • Function as a NYS emergency medical technician to direct, provide, and facilitate high-quality patient care.
  • Arrive punctually, fit, and ready for work in company approved uniform
  • Respond to calls when dispatched. Reads GPS devices to drive ambulance to emergency site using most expeditious route permitted by weather and road conditions. Observes all traffic ordinances and regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety for all employees, patients, and stakeholders by adhering to workplace safety policies; observe, correct, and report safety concerns and deficiencies to the on-duty Shift Leader.
  • Adhere to company, regional, state, and federal policies, procedures, and laws & regulations.

Selection for weekend shifts is subject to seniority and shift bid process.

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid NYS Driver's License required
  • NYS EMT Certified (successfully completed an approved New York State EMT-B or AEMT course, or out of state equivalent, and achieved a passing score on the practical and written certification examinations; note that AEMT-certified employees will be practicing at the EMT-B level)
  • Successful completion of free, in house training (EVOC/emergency vehicle operator course)
  • Must be driver qualified and deemed insurable. Must have and maintain Class D New York State Driver License or higher or analogous equivalent from another jurisdiction without record of suspension or revocation in any State.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via telephone and radio equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry and balance up to 125 pounds (250 lbs. with assistance
  • Ability to maintain sustained patient contact for considerable periods of time
  • Ability to participate in long distance transports
  • Flexible work available (8,10, 12 hour shifts). One shift per week for PT.
